THE COMMUNITY VOICE (ROHNERT PARK) -- After high school, she and her boyfriend, Patrick Hatten, moved to San Francisco. They loved their new city, got married, started a family and she enrolled at San Francisco State University where four years later she earned a degree in Creative Writing. After several jobs in San Francisco, they discovered Sonoma County, settled in Rohnert Park and began raising their two sons, both adults now, 27 and 24, Jasper and Marlon. They’re living in Marin and Sonoma counties. “Before I start a poem, I like to read other poets to help me gather energy,” Trussell said. “One of my heroines is Ann Bradstreet, the first female poet to be published in the13 colonies before the American Revolution.”
