Assistant Professor of Creative Writing Chanan Tigay discusses his novella-length work "Arab Soldiers in Israel's Army," published in McSweeney’s 38. Tigay is an award-winning journalist who has written for Newsweek, Agence France-Presse, United Press International and the Jerusalem Report, among other publications. Free.

Tigay was most recently an investigative reporting fellow at the University of California, Berkeley, Graduate School of Journalism, where he worked on his book Unholy Scriptures: Fraud, Suicide, Scandal—and the Bible that Rocked the Holy City. Tigay earned his M.F.A. in creative writing from Columbia University. He joined SF State this fall.

The Creative Writing Department opens its Writers on Writing course to the public every Monday evening of the semester. Taught by Professor Robert Glück, the course features faculty and visiting writers reading from their works and discussing their creative process.
