Tango Music Workshop

Discover the unique style of Argentine tango music at this one-of-a-kind workshop. Musician Scott O'Day will present a seminar and workshop on the musical secrets of tango, from performance practice to extended instrumental techniques. The seminar will culminate with a hands-on workshop demonstrating individual instrumental techniques used in tango and how to use simple musical elements to build a complex arrangement of a classic tango tune. An impromptu ensemble made up of class participants will be formed to solidify the concepts learned in the workshop. Free.

O’Day is a music performer, educator and tango guitarist based in the Bay Area, where he directs and performs weekly with his tango ensemble projects. He attended La Escuela de Música Popular de Avellaneda in Buenos Aires, and has performed there alongside many notable tango musicians. O’Day also instructs and directs the only weekly ongoing student tango ensemble in the U.S., at the Community Music Center of San Francisco.
