An Artist’s Account: Student Dancer Matthew McKines

Wednesday, November 12, 2014
GOLDEN GATE XPRESS -- This is the first in a series of vignettes profiling students and the spaces they are going to lose as apart of the consolidation of the College of Liberal & Creative Arts. Matthew McKines is a Dance student who has taken on the leadership role of organizing fellow dance students and getting their voices heard by the administration. For spring 2015, the dance studio in Fine Arts 203 is going to begin a conversion into a space for a University museum. As a result dance students will have to use a temporary space in McKenna Theatre, which they say isn’t suitable. “To lose FA 203 would be to diminish the quality of the Dance program, ” McKines says.
