Professor McDaniel: Kamala Harris 'a Very Formidable Candidate' for California Governor in 2026

Wednesday, December 04, 2019

WASHINGTON EXAMINER -- Jason McDaniel, assistant professor of Political Science at San Francisco State University, told the Washington Examiner he believes Harris will be on the Democratic nominee’s shortlist for vice president or for a Cabinet position.

If not, McDaniel said, “I have no doubt that Harris will run for re-election to the Senate in 2022 and should be expected to win quite easily.”

From there, Harris’s political future could get a little more interesting.

McDaniel believes Harris won’t challenge California Governor Gavin Newsom in 2022 but “will be a very formidable candidate” for California governor in 2026.
