Published: Thu, 4 Sep 2008 11:22 AM
Entry Deadline: November 20, 2008
The International Center for the Arts’ ASQ Fellowship & International Competition for Emerging Professional String Quartets awards a unique, career-entry Fellowship to an established string quartet of exceptional promise. The winning group receives a cash stipend and advanced pre-professional training and career preparation, performance opportunities, and other valuable support during a year-long residency under the guidance of the Alexander String Quartet members and distinguished guest artists in the Morrison Artists Series at San Francisco State University and the larger San Francisco Community.
Quartets from around the world compete for the opportunity to become ASQ Fellows. The selected quartets will demonstrate an exceptional level of artistic accomplishment, cohesive ensemble and ability to benefit from an I.C.A. Fellowship experience.
Finalist quartets will be invited to San Francisco State University from January 21-25, 2009 for a residency with the Alexander String Quartet and guest artist faculty at the 6th Annual Yehudi Menuhin Chamber Music Seminar. The ensembles will perform alone and in collaboration with the faculty artists, both in public concerts and master classes. They will also participate in teaching workshops with emerging ensembles. The winning quartet will be announced at the end of the seminar and invited to come to San Francisco in fall 2009 to begin a one-year residency.
